GM Truck Seat Track Repair

Symptom:

Seat moves approximately 3/8 inch forwards and backwards with out pressing for the motor to move the seat.

i.e. When you go to stop you slide forward and when you take off you side back.

Problem:

The bushings in the track were made of rubber and they break down over time.

That’s the material that I had left from the bushings that was OE on three of the four tracks.

THE FIX:

Plan several hours for each seat especially if you have never done this before.

Step 1:

Remove side trim on the seat it is held on by 4 #2 Phillips screws.

You will have 1 coarse screw it goes in the handle for the seat release to allow the seat to flip forward.  The 3 fine threaded ones go in the other 3 places.
